HAND HELD SCREENER FOR NEONATAL          HEARING LOSS

SYSTEM

HAND HELD SCREENER FOR NEONATAL HEARING LOSS

REQUIREMENT

Hearing loss and deafness is a problem in Neonatals due to various reasons like genetic defects, rubella virus infection, apnoea etc. The hearing loss if detected at an early stage could lead to corrective measures and early intervention  for the child. Audio screening is done using audio screeners which are located in large hospitals and specialised centres. In many a circumstances it will be very difficult to take a child for a check up and many would simply ignore the test. A requirement arose wherein a small portable low cost device could be designed to carry it to the child itself more specifically neonatals in far flung areas., therafter the parameters of tests were studied and a small portable device was designed by the AYJNIHH Mumbai. This desigm was later converted into a usable product by RS Hiremath.
